Sharing Information – Students Transition to Adulthood

When we are faced with life circumstances for which we need assistance, we turn to our support group: our family, friends, neighbors and community. As we reach out to these members of our community for assistance, advice, and ideas, we share information that others have used to solve similar problems.

New Horizons Un-Limited is founded on the principle of our community sharing information. We believe, that if given a proper forum and resources, people impacted by disability could communicate with one another, share ideas and solutions, and ultimately, together, conquer the problems they have been facing, too often alone, for many decades.

This past year we collaborated with Milwaukee Public Schools to share information for students that are transitioning from school to the next step: adulthood. So that our disabled students and their families do not have to spend critical months, or even years lost in bureaucracies and red tape, missing out on opportunities and benefits they so rightfully deserve, we at New Horizons Un-Limited have developed a segment of our website dedicated to educating students who are disabled about the services and programs available to them for transitioning from school to secondary education, employment or the community.
