organization based in Milwaukee with a mission to make information and life
experiences more accessible to people with lifelong disabilities, their

We are seeking volunteers for a variety of tasks. Which opportunity fits your interests?
NHU
volunteers are reimbursed up to $8.00 per week for your parking or up to $9.00
per week for your transportation.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered to make our 2008 Summer Raffle a success!!!! Thank you to our volunteers who worked so hard these past months to plan this fundraising event. In celebration of the Harley-Davidson 105th Anniversary event, we held a raffle and silent auction at the US Bank Center. Thank you to everyone who assisted in setting up and working at our booths for this special event. We had terrific prizes and we also sold water and soda to thirsty participants.

Thank you to our Access Technology volunteers who worked very hard to refurbish,
clean and distribute 23 used computers to individuals and community
organizations. We continue to seek
volunteers for refurbishing and our helpdesk.

Forum.
Thank you to NHU Research Assistant
Volunteers who researched and evaluated many helpful website
resources on Parkinson Disease, Learning Disabilities, and Brain Injury for

Thank you to Office and Clerical Volunteers who worked on a special mailing of
Access Tech Tips to computer
recipients and our quarterly newsletter, Communicability
to our NHU Community. We also mailed the
Annual Flower Bulb Brochure to over 70 gardeners. Volunteers also helped with application
packets, database entry, marketing brochures, and put packets together for the Summer
Raffle. Our office and clerical
volunteers are much appreciated!
A very special thank you to our office and clerical volunteer, Peg, who has recently re-entered
the workforce, but has offered to continue to volunteer when she is able. Special thank you to Stephin who has volunteered in the area of Access
Technology setting up computers!

Office and Clerical Assistants and Computer Cleaning and Refurbishing
Volunteers
We will be gathering on Saturday morning, September 27th and October 25th to
work on mailings, print outreach brochures, clean and set up computers for
redistribution. Please contact us if you
are interested in volunteering for these mornings.
New Horizons Un-Limited Annual Appeal
Our Annual Appeal is a special fundraiser for
our organization’s sustaining and general operational funds which allow NHU to
grow. We could use your help!!! As
a volunteer, you know what our work means to our community members with
disabilities! This year plan to pass the word about New Horizons
Un-Limited to others you know!! Consider
5-10 people you know and ask whether they would fill in a pledge card to
include a gift to NHU in their end of year giving and become a
sustaining member of New Horizons Un-Limited.

bulbs will not only bring beauty to your home, but opportunity and hope to
hundreds of individuals with disabilities
in
Southeastern Wisconsin.

flower bulbs around! Our satisfied
“customers” come back year after year to order these magnificent bulbs.
Our 6th annual Flower Bulb Fundraiser offers a terrific
assortment of Tulips, Daffodils, Alliums, Lilies and more! Each package of
quality bulbs costs just $10, with 50% of sales going to New Horizons
Un-Limited.
Help us
make this year’s sale the best ever! Contact the gardeners in your life, your
friends, family and neighbors and ask them if they have a spot or two in their
gardens for flowers that will not only bring beauty for years to come but also
support programs for our community members with disabilities. As a volunteer for NHU, would you be willing to

Purchase Scrip Gift Certificates from NHU
Thank
you to everyone who has purchased scrip certificates! The easiest way to raise money is where supporters raise
funds with money they would spend on themselves anyway. Are you planning fall
purchases? Cabelas,
Ace Hardware, Home Depot, or Sears are available. Scrip orders are due Thursday, September 18, 2008.

Volunteer Computer Refurbishers
Do you have skills in testing or refurbishing
computers, working with software, building computers, or do you have some
training in computer building but need more experience in using these
skills? Join our computer refurbishers in recreating used computers for people with
disabilities. Work at home or in our
office. Please contact us if you are
interested in refurbishing computers.
Our NHU Community Forum and Topic Discussion Boards could
use your help!!!
If you have an interest in disability issues
and have computer access, this task is completed on-line. Post an event, a favorite resource, share a
solution you found, review a good book, share an inspirational picture, poem,
story or website, instant message others, or find someone else who shares your
outlook on life. The NHU Community Forum
is there for you!
Research and Writing
Do you have a lot of resource information, a
personal experience or a solution you found on your specific disability? Join our research
and writing team.
Specific Disabilities - We are working on a
new area of our website to cover Specific Disabilities. We could use your input!!! Please contact us if you would like to assist
in research and writing on your specific disability or other disability issues.
Legislation - We are
interested in providing current national, state and local legislative
issues. We could use your input!!! Please contact us if you would like to assist
us in research and writing on legislative issues for people with disabilities
and our community.
