Thank you to everyone who volunteered to make our 2008 Summer Raffle a success!!!! Thank you to our volunteers who worked so hard these past months to plan this fundraising event. In celebration of the Harley-Davidson 105th Anniversary event, we held a raffle and silent auction at the US Bank Center. Thank you to everyone who assisted in setting up and working at our booths for this special event. We had terrific prizes and we also sold water and soda to thirsty participants.

Thank you to all our generous raffle and silent auction sponsors and donors! Please see our donor list and thank you at http://www.new-horizons.org/hddono.pdf .

Thank you to our Access Technology volunteers who worked very hard to refurbish, clean and distribute 23 used computers to individuals and community organizations. We continue to seek volunteers for refurbishing and our helpdesk. Join us on designated Saturday mornings to clean and set up computers.

Thank you to volunteers who assisted with postings on our NHU Community Forum.

Thank you to NHU Research Assistant Volunteers who researched and evaluated many helpful website resources on Parkinson Disease, Learning Disabilities, and Brain Injury for people with disabilities. Thank you to Office and Clerical Volunteers who worked on a special mailing of Access Tech Tips to computer recipients and our quarterly newsletter, Communicability to our NHU Community. We also mailed the Annual Flower Bulb Brochure to over 70 gardeners. Volunteers also helped with application packets, database entry, marketing brochures, and put packets together for the Summer Raffle. Our office and clerical volunteers are much appreciated!

A very special thank you to our office and clerical volunteer, Peg, who has recently re-entered the workforce, but has offered to continue to volunteer when she is able. Special thank you to Stephin who has volunteered in the area of Access Technology setting up computers!

New Horizons Un-Limited Annual Appeal

Our Annual Appeal is a special fundraiser for our organization’s sustaining and general operational funds which allow NHU to grow. We could use your help!!! As a volunteer, you know what our work means to our community members with disabilities! This year plan to pass the word about New Horizons Un-Limited to others you know!! Consider 5-10 people you know and ask whether they would fill in a pledge card to include a gift to NHU in their end of year giving and become a sustaining member of New Horizons Un-Limited.

6th Annual

Flower Bulb Fundraiser

Our bulbs will not only bring beauty to your home, but opportunity and hope to hundreds of individuals with disabilities

in Southeastern Wisconsin.

VanBourgondien, our fundraiser partner, delivers the most brilliant spring-blooming flower bulbs around! Our satisfied “customers” come back year after year to order these magnificent bulbs.

Our 6th annual Flower Bulb Fundraiser offers a terrific assortment of Tulips, Daffodils, Alliums, Lilies and more! Each package of quality bulbs costs just $10, with 50% of sales going to New Horizons Un-Limited.

Help us make this year’s sale the best ever! Contact the gardeners in your life, your friends, family and neighbors and ask them if they have a spot or two in their gardens for flowers that will not only bring beauty for years to come but also support programs for our community members with disabilities. As a volunteer for NHU, would you be willing to sponsor sales in your neighborhood or apartment complex? Contact us for a neighborhood bulb sellers kit. To view or request the full color brochure, please e-mail us at horizons@new-horizons.org or download the packet from our website at www.new-horizons.org/08bulb.pdf. (Available mid-July) Order before mid September 2008, to ensure time for planting.

Purchase Scrip Gift Certificates from NHU

Thank you to everyone who has purchased scrip certificates! The easiest way to raise money is where supporters raise funds with money they would spend on themselves anyway. Are you planning fall purchases? Cabelas, Ace Hardware, Home Depot, or Sears are available. Scrip orders are due Thursday, September 18, 2008.
