New Horizons Un-Limited Inc.
Given access to information and a means of communicating with others in similar circumstances, we believe individuals with disabilities can gain a voice in their futures, can have more control over their lives and can challenge the perceptions that have limited their independence and participation in the community.
What allows each of us to survive and indeed thrive in our environment is being a part of our community and being able to communicate with and participate in the daily life of our community. Without acceptance into the community, each of us would have a lonely, difficult and unfulfilling life experience.
Whether we choose to admit it or not, we are all limited, no matter if we are labeled as disabled or not. We are, therefore, all dependent on each other. Alone, we are all vulnerable to our own limitations, both physically and experientially. It is the accumulation and sharing of collective knowledge that is a corner stone of civilized life itself.
The disabled have a right to be part of the community, and they have a right to collaborate, to establish and to share common knowledge and to establish a common voice. But their isolation from community has historically, severely limited their participation, their collaboration, their collective voice, and therefore the opportunity to live more fulfilling lives.
We are fostering a revolution in the way the disabled think about themselves and the way others view the disabled. It is this shifting of attitude that will bring people with and without disabilities together to live, learn and work in our communities and therefore allow all to enjoy the benefits of a fully inclusive and productive community.
We envision a world in which all individuals with disabilities can contribute to the community without the daily physical and perceptual barriers that now prevent them from doing so.
We are working towards the day that the inclusion and participation of individuals with disabilities, as full members of the community, the workplace, and in life itself will not be an exception but an expectation.
