New Sign RVI Ė Riverview Industries, Inc. some families and individuals come to RVI, Inc. for non-work opportunities. For them, they offer programming through their Habilitation department. Their RISE department (RVIís Individualized Success Enhancement) helps with reading or computer skills, discusses current events, and provides training in workplace skills development. The SHINE room (Successful Habilitation for Individual Needs Enhancement) serves as an Adult Day service, offering a safe, engaging atmosphere for those not interested or not appropriate for work activities. For them, they offer games, activities, crafts, song and dance, and more. New Sign Institute for Developmental Disabilities, Inc. is a non-profit corporation providing medical, educational and residential services to children and adults with severe to progound developmental disabilities in a rural country setting. Day Habilitation services, also referred to as Assonet Bay Life Skills Environment (A.B.L.E.) I & II programs, are designed to meet the needs of those in the Adult Program who require active habilitation designed to address a variety of individualized habilitation goals, such as fine motor skill development, sensory skill development, cooking skills, and community inclusion. Their diverse team of therapists and specialists offers occupational, physical, speech and music therapy; an adapted physical education program that includes a gym, fitness program, and a therapeutic pool with a unique barrier-free lift that facilitates easy transfer from wheelchair to pool; adaptive design services to tailor wheelchairs and adaptive equipment according to an individual's specific needs; and low-vision/orientation and mobility services to help visually impaired students better access their environment and the educational process.
