New Horizons Un-Limited Inc.The Parent Leadership Support Project, of the Georgia Advocacy Office, is seeking participants to enroll in training to support parents of children with disabilities. The training will allow participants to advocate on behalf of other people's children with disabilities in a school context. The Office offers thirteen weeks of training to provide the best information on the complex issues surrounding Georgia's educational system. The goal is to raise competency levels of people advocating on behalf of students with disabilities. Training will begin on January 23, 2004 and will end on Saturday, May 1, 2004. Today's Caregiver Magazine is hosting their annual Sharing Wisdom Conference on Friday, April 25, 2003 at the Signature Grand in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Unlock the Waiting Lists Campaign of Georgia is interested in hearing from or about anyone with a developmental disability whose name has been placed on a long waiting list for essential disability services. They are working on real life stories of people on waiting lists for the new legislative session. If you or anybody you care about has a developmental disability and are on waiting lists for either the Independent Care Waiver or Community Care Services Program, you are asked to contact the campaign with your experience.
