This unique gathering is unlike anything else in the United States. At the conference adult brothers and sisters of people with MR/DD gather together to hear directly from MR/DD professionals, educators, politicians and other Adult Siblings. The Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA), located at 1141 East Boulevard in Cleveland, will be showing the film People Say I'm Crazy on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 5:45 pm and Sunday, October 17, 2004 at 9:30 pm. The film, a documentary of the filmakers own struggle with schizophrenia, offers a rare look at mental illness from the inside. Ten years ago, after his first psychotic break in college, he started filming himself to let the world know what it's like to live with labels such as "psychotic," "schizophrenic" and "severely disabled." The Ability Center will be hosting their annual ADA Zoo Day at the Toledo Zoo on Monday, July 26, 2004. Aside from enjoying the sights and sounds of the zoo, visitors will also have an opportunity to stop and chat with various disability service providers. Wednesday May 27, 2004 is the date for this year's "The Arc's Company Picnic" at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio. An Employment Outcome Summit will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 17-18, 2004, at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, 4900 Sinclair Road in Columbus, Ohio. The workshop, aimed at encouraging business start-ups and community employment, will include presentations by individuals who have started their own businesses and secured community employment with the help of a commissioned agent. Individuals and their support teams will receive hands on training and support and will leave the workshop with a draft business plan. Business plans are eligible for start up grants up to $5,000. Cost for the two-day workshop is $40 for individuals with disabilities and their families and $80 for professionals.
