The resources below link to other on-line meeting places and forums in which people with disabilities may participate. Please be aware of the safety issues concerning the use of such online communities. International

Disability Friends Web Pals Around the World is a free on-line service open to anyone with a disability, enabling people with MS and other disabilities to communicate via email or use the chat room to swap experiences and support each other. This site features a web pal list that offers the name, e-mail address, disability type, geographic location and interests of those interested in meeting others with similar experiences. The site also offers a chat room.

National

ASCOT World is an online "support group and social club for amputees or anyone with a disability, and their admirers." The website features links to many organization and personal websites that offer information on a variety of disabilities. There is also an opportunity to chat on-line with individuals that may share similar experiences. For more information, visit their website.

DeafChat offers an online community of individuals with hearing disabilities via a 24-hour, monitored, multi-roomed chatroom. Individuals from around the globe access the site daily.

DisABLEDperson Inc. is a 501(C)(3), 509(a)(1) public charity whose purpose and mission is to reduce the extremely high unemployment rate amongst disabled Americans. They accomplish this through their web site and its state of the art online recruitment application, RecruitABILITY. This site has a community emphasis on sharing Featured Poetry, Articles, Stories, Classified Ads, Issues and Opinions, and Community Events.

Disabled United is an on-line meeting place for people with disabilities. This online community allows people with disabilities to meet new friends, share thoughts on their message board and chat with friends online. Registration is free.

New Sign Disaboom was founded by Dr. J. Glen House, a physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation who is also a quapriplegic. Encourage One Another is a website designed by an individual with Cerebral Palsy for the purpose of sharing encouragement among individuals living with a disability. The site is for anyone interested in sharing their story or personal words of inspiration or for those who are simply interested in learning of other's sources of encouragement.
